Computerworld reports that Gov. Napolitano, President-elect Obama’s choice to run DHS, has a strong track record in favor of increasing H-1 numbers. Napolitano was one of 12 governors who sent a letter in September 2007 to congressional leaders in both parties urging an increase in the visa cap.

Her argument centers on increasing visa numbers for occupations where obvious shortages exist. Assuming that her position hasn’t changed, it follows that she would also support increasing the visa numbers for Healthcare workers.

Whether her advocacy for increasing visa numbers in shortage occupations translates into President-elect Obama using the bully pulpit to support bills such as HR 5924 is an issue that remains to be seen.
