USCIS Provides I-485 Inventory Data 09/28/09
The USCIS I-485 Inventory Chart displays the total number of pending adjustment of status applications, per preference category, priority date and per country. The USCIS also issued separate charts for India, China, Mexico and the Philippines as those countries historically have higher demand for visas and reach their yearly quota.
Here’s some interesting data from the I-485 inventory chart:
*There are a total of 234,000 cases at the I-485 stage at USCIS awaiting visa numbers to become available. The USCIS stated that the number of I-485 adjustments is typically about 85% of the overall number of immigrant visas (green cards) issued, meaning there could be approximately 35,100 cases at the National Visa Center.
*There are a total of 4,0510 EB1 cases pending; 74,932 EB2 cases pending; and 151,231 EB3 cases pending.
*The number of pending I-485 EB3 cases from the Philippines is 11,563 as compared to 62,607 for India. In essence, the number for India EB3 is 5 times more than that of Philippines EB3.
*While the total number of EB2 for India is 47,728 and EB3 for India is 62,607, the EB3 cases are in the earlier years so that the number of India EB2 cases has been more than India EB3 in every year since 2005.
*The number of I-485 cases pending also includes spouse and dependents.
*The number of China EB2 cases are significantly more than the China EB3 cases: whereas there are only 6,343 in the EB3 category, there are 19,333 in the EB2 category.
Here are a few predictions based upon the I-485 inventory chart:
*India EB3 may surpass India EB2 sometime in the next two fiscal years. Once USCIS gets passed the cases with 2004 priority dates, there may be a shift because there are significantly more India EB2 cases than India EB3 cases since 2005. Caveat: this presumes that the labor certification cases pending at the Department of Labor and I-140′s at the USCIS are roughly the same proportion of EB2 to EB3 as contained on the I-485 inventory chart (note: the “trickle down” of unused visas from first preference category to second preference category will provide some relief to the second preference category).
*Within the next fiscal year EB3 Philippines category should move to at least the priority dates from the middle of 2005. The following fiscal year EB3 Philippines should move at least to the cases with priority dates in the middle of 2006.
*Within the next fiscal year, the visa numbers should move through most of 2005 priority dates for China EB2.

my priority date is oct 2006.when can i possibly get my visa?
Dear Sherry,
Is there any data available with USCIS for I-140 approved and pending countrywise, so that we could get an idea about approx. waiting period.
My POD is 14th November 2007 from India. When I checked the status, it shows "post decision". I did not receive yet the Packet-3 instruction. Could any body guide when I will get Packet-3.

God bless!
How sure are you of going to the US if by the time your employer is out of business? You'll be back to zero. Think of other countries.
I think we just need to be patient and wait I pressume since my priority date is July 2007 I'm looking at a 2 to 3 year waiting period
For the meantime all I can say is just wait and by the time comes you will be ready to leave
We must await a time with patience…agreed?
To Hammond: my PD is may 2006, my waiting is 2 years more? i need you rough estimate, tnx
these are all estimates but very good and sound estimates that's for sure. My PD for my I-485 is Sept. 2006 I-140 has long been approved, far too long. Just sitting tight and hope that the EB3 base greencard arrives sooner than 2011. My visa screen expires 2011 I hate tedious paperworks not to mention taking the english exam again. It's all money making for sure, do they really think that you forget to speak the english language after 5 years? DUH?!! I hate CGFNS but what can one do, that's their game and if we want to keep playing we just follow the rules UNLESS…. we find another way, sort of like a cheat sheet! Lots of ways, one is to get married to a US citizen, bite the bullet so to speak, or have a relative, son, daughter, mother, father, petition you for a greencard then it follows a different path but still leading to the acquisition of that darn card. Whatever, there are so many ways to skin a cat we just have to find it! My classmate married a US immigrant, smart girl, my other classmate is now engaged to a US citizen. Ah, if only I were single LOL! Still, I do have an ace up my sleeve and when needed I will definitely pull it out and use it as my wild card!
My priorty date is April 2004 in EB 3 category from India, what will be the expected GC time frame
As per this report, there are total 233816 I485 applications pending. Because the unused numbers trickle down across category & country, if we assume a conservative estimate of 70000 new visa numbers every year ( remaining 70000 for new applications and CP), everything should be current by 2013 and all the pending applications should be approved by then or before that. Is this assumption correct? It sounds too good to be true.
.
Of course, I'm assuming they won't waste any visa numbers
