Hi everyone,
I love reading this blog bcoz am in the same boots as all y’all.I was checking on the congress website ts see the progress made on Nurse’s Relief Act filed in Feb’09.Well its still in the committee.Hope it doesnt die there b4 it reaches congress.I encourage all to do some research on these issues to avoid false hopes. All in all i think we should be patient and support ooorganisations like HLG that working hard for us.There is so much beauraucracy in the system and it calls 4 patience but things will be fine.We will get the visas.if nursing relief bills dont pass other bills like health care reform, and a boost in US economy will cause some of these bills that we desparately need to pass.Dont lose heart.God is in control
amen
“Happy Nurses Week”
Thank you for such positive words Sima. In such difficult times everybody needs to hear something like that. We all hope for the retrogression to lift up and finally allow us to work in the States. I truly hope for this to happen by the new fiscal year, but it seems like Congress is postponing issues like immigration of nurses. There are more interested on giving green cards to people who came to the States illegally. I recently read this article on the NYC, which the link is under the May MMM, and the unions don’t want to even hear about hiring foreigners. They would rather deal with the illegals of the country. I have been in the States for more than 5 years legally. I have educated my self here as a nurse, and yet there are no opportunities for work in a land that needs me. Is that fairness to the issue? Like me there are thousands of nurses in the US who cannot nurse. That sends a clear message, politics overrules fairness. Just like you I hope that it all changes.
Very well said everyone…US is favoring illegals, but would you want to risk?
Nothing we could do and just wait…Do not choose US as your primary option. Make it your LAST option.
When are we gonna see the long awaited bill for nurasing green cards to be not only introduced but quickly passed? It’s already May and nothing have happened, moreover the visa bulleting will be unavailable till October for EB3, this is unbelievable that nothing is happening in regards of this matter
To HLG,
You had announced on February 16th regarding the impending re-introduction of HR.5924 and yet three months later we have not seen it happen, now your monthly monitor has a news article regardng how there is no shortage of nurses in US during the recession.
Realistically, is there any chance at all that we could see a solution this year? Though some maybe ready to wait out the recession, many cannot wait that long.
So if you think that a solution will be probable only in 2010 or 11, I hope you will inform us the same. I wish you all the best in carrying on the good fight but some of us are just too exhausted by the wait.
I agree with abc123
HLG,should be honest in providing news on introducing bill for nurses. If this bill has no chance of being introduce, please provide realistic information.we can bear either information
thanks
Hi abc123 and potential99,
I agree with you.Thats y earlier on I wrote to say we should do our own research on these matters to avoid disappointments. Law firms and recruiters sugar coat the situation bcoz its business and they have to keep clients waiting.I am in the US and believe me the system here is drafted in a way that there are no short cuts.Bills can be introduced but its not a guarantee that it will even pass. You can google ‘pending immigration bills in US congress’ to see what bills are being tackled. To make matters worse there r alot of bills in congress that our so much needed bills arent priority. At the worst retrogression will just have to come to an end on its own course, when I dont know.Hope october ’09 will indicate Available for EB3 and not just a forward shift of PD’S bcoz that will just crush our spirits.Patience is well exercised with a plan at hand not just waiting forever.I equally wish we could be told the truth whatever it may be so that we can find other means of getting work authorisation.
I think that those of you who have a PD of 2006 should be expecting something by 2020. I’m sure that you will have your green card when you’re ready to ready to retire. Cheers.
