GOD KNOWS WHAT OUR HEARTS DESIRE SO LET US ENJOY THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND HOPE THAT NEW YEAR WILL BE A BIG BANG FOR ALL OF US !!!
MABUHAY ANG MGA NURSES!!!
Sometimes, we tried to look very hard for stones and we ignore the things that we have, which is diamonds and a lot more valuable than stomes.
This Christmas and I know that this may sound a cliche but try to give some smiles to the people around you and since we can not give gifts because we are hard pressed (I dont about other people but I am) give the love, the joy and the shoulder to be there for someone when they need it.
Yes we are hurting because as A dedicated nurses we are not in the United States where our services are treasured but having a good health, having to see and wait for your Priority date to be current and having the hope that the joy of looking for the immigrant visa stamped in your passport is something to be thankful for at the moment. As with the other bloggers here: Merry Christmas!
A very prosperous new year and most of all longlife that we may see someday to see America as a nurse (but that is going too far)
May God Bless us always and to HLG, more power and pls continue to work for us.
Thank you!
Hi Bolog,
I was just reading your previous post for Bianca. After your Embassy interview and when the Consul says your visa will be sent thru courier, how long does it take before it arrives to your home address, roughly, I’m from visayas region?
Thank you. Have a very Happy X’mas my fellow nurses.

RP to start deployment of nurses to Japan soon
Updated December 25, 2008 12:00 AM
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported yesterday that the deployment of Filipino nurses to Japan would finally start early next year.
“We hope to come out with the necessary guidelines on the hiring of our nurses middle of January and the actual deployment will start probably by April,” Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said.
Roque noted that the government expects about a thousand Filipino nurses to be hired.
“Initially only a few nurses will be deployed but we expect the number to increase eventually since Japan is in dire need of nurses because of their aging population,” Roque pointed out.
He said the language barrier could prove to be a problem for nurses who have to learn Japanese prior to deployment.
However, Roque expressed confidence that the Philippine government can address the minor hitch with an intensified language training program.
Aside from Japan, Roque said Filipino nurses looking to work abroad can also try their luck in France, Canada and Saudi Arabia. – Mayen Jaymalin

Jobs in UK still await RP health workers

Filed Under: Overseas Employment, Nursing matters
MANILA, Philippines–Filipino nurses and other health care professionals seeking overseas employment need not worry about losing job opportunities in the United Kingdom, as there are many vacancies there that have to be filled up in the next few years.
A recruitment industry expert made this assessment on Sunday as he identified the British health care sector as one that has been in need of health care professionals, regardless of the financial slump affecting many European countries.
“The health care industry in UK is mainly funded by taxpayer’s money and is managed by the National Health Service (NHS) which is the largest employer in the UK,” Emmanuel Geslani, a consultant of several Manila-based recruitment agencies, told reporters.
Geslani, however, said the NHS system has been “failing” in matters of primary care and hospital services due the lack of nurses and senior carers resulting in lack of hospital beds and personnel to attend to the sick.
He cited a recent study of current vacancies in nursing and senior carers that showing nearly 10,000 vacancies, resulting in the poor delivery of services in hospitals and care homes.
With the aging population of the UK calculated to reach 30 percent for the entire country by 2010 some 10 million senior citizens would need better services from care homes, the study said.
“Thousands of Filipino nurses can fill up the gap in the nursing shortage in the UK by entering the country as student nurses and at the same time expand their knowledge and experience in British schools,” Geslani suggested.
The projected vacancies are so worrisome that some placement agencies in Britain have been recruiting nursing students even before they graduate or take their licensure exams, according to Geslani.
He added that one British consultancy firm, realizing the need to “capture” much needed health care professionals, pioneered a “study-and-work” placement scheme for nursing students and the so-called “under-board graduates” to boost their academic qualifications and help them meet UK standards.
The International Student Advisors Inc. offers a plan whereby students and graduates of social, health care and international nursing degrees from the Philippines would be temporarily employed, with pay, in care homes and hospitals in the UK while completing their units or taking additional ones in accredited British universities.
“Through the scheme, the students can understand what actually happens in the place of work and undertake projects in preparation for their essays and exams. Under the vocational work placement of at least 30 hours a week, the students can cover their living costs and tuition fees,” Geslani explained.
He said the Makati City-based ISA, which recently expanded its recruitment activities in eight provinces, already sent over 600 Filipino health care professionals to enroll in renowned UK schools such the Anglia Ruskin and Hertforshire universities for additional nursing degrees and in preparing for taking up the British overseas nursing program assessment.

US market for nurses not opening up yet – group
KIMBERLY JANE T. TAN, GMANews.TV
MANILA, Philippines – Local manpower industry leaders warned Filipino nurses seeking to land a job in the United States not to be easily swayed by claims that the US market for nurses has opened up again.
Lito Soriano, executive director of the Federated Associations of Manpower Exporters, Inc., (Fame) also dismissed as false and misleading claims that the lengthy period for the entry of Filipino nurses to the US has been shortened.
Soriano suggested that nurses who want to work abroad immediately and have at least two years experience in 100-200 bed hospitals in various fields better turn their sights on Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries as it takes only 30 days to leave for these jobsites after selection.
He said the proposal of the Ombudsman for the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to speed up the processing of Filipino nurses’ applications for green cards should not be a cause for excitement.
“The recommendations made by the Ombudsman to the USCIS are merely proposals for improving the processing of nurse visas and not immediately executory,” Soriano said in a statement on Friday.
Among the Ombudsman’s recommendations is that USCIS prioritize the nurses’ green card application so that they can be expedited without the requirement of a written request from the applicant.
The recommendation also sought to assign all applications to one immigration service center, ensuring a more efficient and consistent processing of applications.
Soriano said these recommendations will have to be adopted by the USCIS through lengthy procedures like hearings and consultations with the government and private nursing sectors in the United States.
Recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani also disputed the claim by a US-based recruitment agency with a local counterpart that the long wait is over for the 500 nurses they have recruited and that they will soon be flying to the US to work.
Geslani did not name the agency, saying only that many of the nurses it recruited in the past were known to have resigned because of its failure to comply with the provisions of the contract signed in the Philippines.
Geslani likewise disputed claims that the US nurses market was opening up. Citing statistics, he said the number of Filipino nurses deployed to the United States has been dropping steadily. In 373 deployed in 2004, 209 in 2005, 202 in 2006, and 186 in 2007. – GMANews.TV

US demand for nurses to rise in ’14
By Kristine L. Alave
Philippine Daily Inquirer
First Posted 09:01:00 01/05/2009
MANILA, Philippines—The United States will need 1.2 million new nurses by 2014 to meet the growing demands of its aging population and to fill in for retiring health workers, a recruitment consultant said over the weekend.
Citing a report from the US Department of Health and Human Services, recruitment consultant Emmanuel Geslani said the US will need 500,000 nurses to replace those leaving the service and 700,000 more to take care of the aging baby boomers in the coming years.
Geslani, however, said Filipino nurses should not pin all their hopes on the American market.
According to Geslani, who works for the Federated Association of Manpower Exporters (FAME), an umbrella group of recruiters, the US States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has yet to adopt rules that would expedite the processing of visas for foreign nurses.
There have been proposals to the USCIS to have a dedicated lane and category for foreign nurses to fast track their visa applications. Geslani said the USCIS is still studying the proposal and it may take the agency sometime to reach a decision on the matter.
“The nursing shortage in the US may not be solved in the immediate future as policy recommendations will have to be approved and the red tape involved in the processing of nurses visas will have to be resolved without the CIS letting up on its safeguards in setting up standards for foreign nurses qualifications,” he said.
Geslani and FAME urged Filipino nurses not to wait for the US market to open up. They noted that they could apply to health facilities in the Middle East. Although the pay in Middle East is lower than in the US, Filipino nurses do not have to wait for years before getting a job there, Geslani said.
