Hi,
Further to the discussion on California BRN and expiry of NCLEX results.

I passed the NCLEX in April 2005 so the validity of that was due to expire with the CA Board in April 2008 (three years). So what I did was write a letter to the Board and ask for an extension. The CA Board will now keep my file open until April 2009 or when I get an SSN. As you prob know you don’t get an SSN until you have a visa.

I’m not sure if I can get a further extension of this again. Does anybody know? Also I am interested in getting a licence with Vermont Board so i dont have to worry about my file expiring anymore. Have not looked into this yet… any suggestions.

TIPS
*Dont go through the CA Board :)

*Make sure your DS230 form has not expired. That is why i missed out on a visa last year.

Good luck

alexandra tams,
get an ITIN number. CA board accept that. But you still have to secure SSN otherwise you wont be able to renew your license

To alexandra tams/RN-Philippines

My NCLEX-RN will expire on Aug 2008with New Mexico Board of Nursing,Can u please let me know how to re-new my RN license or transfer of RN license to another state, as we don’t know when the retrogression wil lift.

Grace February 20, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

Hello Thomas,

Please check the website of the Board of Nursing where you initially acquired your RN license. I renewed my license by paying online. Just send them an e-mail if it would be OK if they’ll gonna mail your license to your address outside US. Some states are very strict about this since they want the license to reach the intended recipient.

If you transfer your license to another state, check their website or send them an e-mail for any queries. Sometimes, other states have different requirement for the English test. For some, IELTS is okay whereas for some it has to be TOEFL. Just communicate with them ASAP so you can renew your license easily.

Some states also require you to present your SSN before you can be approved for an application of reciprocity.

Others require you a CES by CGFNS even when you passed the NCLEX RN test.

Good luck!

Thanks for your input.

rn-phillipines,
it took about four weeks for the CA Board to reply to my letter asking for an extension of my license. you say you cant get an ITIN number because you are in the Phillipines, why is that? Can i get one being in Sydney? what is the best way to go about getting one?

to Thomas,
maybe you can try asking for an extension also to buy some time? i dont know much about the New mexico board. all i did was write a letter to ca board asking for an extension.

I am going to look into getting a license through Vermont also. does anyone have any tips on getting started.

Good luck.

aryo February 20, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

Hi! my CA application was about to expire last Jan. What I did was endorse my test scores tho VT by applying with the regular application packet and sent them California pass letter. In a metter of 2 weeks, they issued my hard license in VT, at the same time I also applied for extension in CA which was granted few days before it expires. Hope this helps

Senate committee urges feds to act on immigration
Published: Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008
A Senate panel on Wednesday approved a resolution calling for federal action on immigration reform.
SR3, which refers to an “illegal immigration crisis” is a companion to a House resolution and is the second immigration resolution to receive the support of the Senate Government Operations Committee.

Sponsor Mark Madsen, R-Lehi, amended the resolution to remove wording that would have urged Congress to put a moratorium on guest worker legislation until illegal immigration is brought under control.

The bill now moves to the Senate.

can anybody pls advise , this bill contains anything favor for Nurses

can anybody knows that what is the procedure for renewing Visa screaning certificate

chuva February 21, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

To TOMS,

Just download the “application by examination form” found in VT bon site..complete the form and send the other forms requested, $150 and don’t forget the CA pass letter. After a week or 2 from the time they recieved your application you’ll see your name in their database and they will send you your license.

Also try to apply for an extension of your CA application.

BTW, I’m from the phil….

To agi,

If your news was copied from http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,5143,695254884,00.html, I believe that is a Utah state senate panel. It only calls for federal actions. However, I am afraid that the US senate has set their mind not touching immigration this year.

DEAR HLG
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BRIDGE FOR SCHEDULE A . ANY PROGRESS MADE. WHAT HAPPENED TO CTIHS. ANY LOBBYING EFFORT SUCESSFUL.
IT IS VERY VERY ESSENTIAL FOR INDIAN NURSES.
PLEASE UPDATE US
THANKS

abc123 February 22, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

Future for Indian nurses look very bleak. Some sources say thet Phil EB3 may actually gallop 2 years by end of this fiscal year while Indian EB3 may not move at all.

I guess nothing much is happening on sch A front too, one can compare postings by HLG on this blog last year when lot of things were in motion to the lacklustre posts this year. Situation seems very bad for Indian nurses as we have separated from the rest of the nursing community by the VB.

RN-Philippines February 22, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

Chuva,

You mean California pass letter with a picture on it? Usually how many days or weeks or months will they reply on you to get that pass letter? Because i emailed them several times but it seems no answer at all.Do i just email them or write a letter and send it to CA BON?

Concerned February 22, 2008 Discuss on Twitter @healthcarevisas Reply

Does the US SSA even know that a problem exists for foreign CA BON rn applicants?

I think this problem will continue to affect others until it is solved.

Why can’t they not issue it like a permanent cgfns number without benefits(until the restriction to work legally is removed)?

I hope they are not complicating things on purpose because the solution seems a very easy one and it can really eliminate redundancy.
